SIMD

• Pure SIMD machine:

  • single CPU devoted exclusively to control
  • collection of subordinate ALUs each w/small amount of memory

• Instruction cycle: CPU broadcasts, ALUs execute or idle

• Key point: completely synchronous execution of statements

• Examples: CM, MP
