                       Assignment #8 _ Winter 1992

Due Wednesday, 18 March 1:30 PM

Deliver to Jiefei Hong at or before final exam

1. Use Prolog to solve the 4 queens problem (place 4 queens on a substandard 4 x 4

chessboard, so that no queen attacks any other). For more credit, solve the 8 queens

problem, and/or systematically avoid multiple solutions that are merely reflections and

rotations of one another. With the 8 x 8 problem beware: you can easily eat up hours

of computing time if you're not careful.
