ARPANet: The Final Years

• 1979 USENET established between Duke and UNC by Truscott, Bellovin, Ellis.

• 1982 TCP/IP standard finalized.

• 1983 ARPANet splits into ARPANet and MILNet. TCP/IP replaces NCP.

• 1984 DNS (domain name server) released. ARPANet contains 1000 nodes.
