This appendix presents an overview of why we designed cs151-core and what we accomplish with it. In short, the restrictions imposed by cs151-core are meant, on the one hand, to simplify certain possible points of confusion in the design of the language, and, on the other, to discourage certain poor programming practices that are enabled in the full language.
