Here are some tips on how to keep up with the class:
- Check the newsgroup frequently, posting questions when you have them. Chances are someone else is wondering about the exact same thing!
- For each homework, write up a brief description that could be used to teach someone about the material in the assignment. Make sure that you include clear and informative descriptions of the features you use in your implementation.
- Read the relevant portions of the text on your own, and think through the connection between the presentation in the book and the ideas that we discuss in class. Lectures and text are complementary, not redundant. And again, if there's something we didn't cover in the lecture that you have questions about, post to the newsgroup! That's what it's there for.
